The back pressure valve is one of the indispensable accessories for the use of metering pumps. The following is an analysis and solution of the faults that may be encountered during the use of the back pressure valve.
Failure | Reason | Solution |
Insufficient back pressure | Improper back pressure adjustment | Adjust the set pressure by rotating the adjusting nut. Turn clockwise to increase the pressure, and turn counterclockwise to decrease the pressure. |
There may be impurities between the valve base and diaphragm | Take it apart, clean it carefully, reassemble it, and then adjust the pressure
it still cannot withstand the pressure even after the spring is tightened. | There may be impurities between the valve base and diaphragm | Take it apart, clean it carefully, reassemble it, and then adjust the pressure |
Leakage under low pressure | The PTFE sealing surface is hard and the sealing effect is not good. | If the medium has no corrosion to EPDM rubber, EPDM rubber can be installed downward as a sealing surface. |
There may be impurities between the valve base and diaphragm | Take it apart, clean it carefully, reassemble it, and then adjust the pressure
Back pressure is too high | Improper back pressure adjustment | Turn the adjusting nut to adjust the set pressure. Turn counterclockwise to reduce the pressure. |
Liquid leaks from the upper valve body vent hole | Ruptured or torn septum | Remove and replace all damaged parts, be sure to remove internal impurities before replacement |
Safety tip: If the back pressure valve is installed in the main pipe at the pump outlet, the back pressure set pressure must not exceed the rated working pressure of the pump. Failure to do so may cause damage to the pump.
